God’s Plan for Your Life: Salvation I

God’s thoughts for man are such that guarantee a glorious life. It is important that we understand these thoughts so we can align with God’s agenda. The Bible says the whole world lies in wickedness (1 John 5:19). Satan and his agents are chief perpetrators of this wickedness as stated in John 10:10a.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy.”

Satan is described as the thief in this verse and he has a threefold mission of stealing, killing and destruction. He started operating in the Garden of Eden in the form of a serpent to destroy God’s agenda for man using his subtle nature. He succeeded in deceiving Eve as she ate the forbidden fruit and later convinced Adam, her husband, to disobey God.

Satan is known as the prince of this world, who was cast down from Heaven. He goes around like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour (John 12:31; 1 Peter 5:8). He deceives so many to sin against God thereby gaining access to their lives and holding many in bondage. To liberate man from satanic slavery, Jesus came to bear the sins of the world.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS and He shall save His people from their sins.”

You might be asking, why do I need to be saved when I enjoy human rights as declared by the United Nations and I have my life insurance? From God’s standard, all have sinned and come short of His glory (Romans 3:23). Through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, everyone born into the world possesses the nature of sin.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world; and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

So man needed to be reconciled to God and Jesus Christ came to pay the price. Every man need to be saved to live God’s kind of life on earth and in eternity.

“18. Therefore, as by the offense of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:18-19

God is gracious and does not want anyone to perish. His grace that brings salvation has appeared to all men (Titus 2:11). So you have a choice to make this day whether or not to partake of this grace. You have to chose between life and death as salvation guarantees you the life of God – eternal life.

God’s plan of salvation for man is clearly described in the book of John chapter three verse 16.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God released Jesus, His Son, to come to the world to save that which was lost (Matthew 18:11). He sacrificed one Son to have many sons and daughters. It is a great honor to be saved and be part of God’s family.

Salvation is a deliberate and gracious move of God to reposition man to his original dignity. It is a reconciliatory provision for man to live God’s kind of life. Jesus Christ paid the price over 2000 years ago and saved man. It is left for those who are yet to accept Him and accept the truth to do so without delay. What shall it profit you if you gain the whole world and lose your soul? Your day of salvation is here. You may be asking, how can I be saved? In Romans 10:9-10, the Bible says,

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

First of all, you need to believe that Jesus came, died and arose from the grave to set us free from sin, sickness and death and then confess this belief with your mouth. If you have never asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart, you can say this prayer.

Lord Jesus, I come to You this day. I admit that I am a sinner. From today, I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. I believe that You came, died and arose to save me. Forgive my sins. I declare I am born again. Thank you Jesus for saving me.

Congratulations, if you said that prayer. You are welcome to God’s great family. This is the greatest miracle you will ever experience in life. You have a package God has already prepared for you. We will now unravel this package as described in Revelation 5:12.

“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.”

Jesus is an embodiment of the seven-fold package of redemption. Therefore, He is the giver of this package to every man that receives Him. In the next article, we will explore each component of this package.
