Experiencing Unspeakable Joy

Finland became the happiest country in the world for the third year in a row according to the 2020 World Happiness Report. The people expressed satisfaction about life based on weighed factors that include income, life expectancy of 81.4 years, freedom to make life choices, and a government that is deemed generally trustworthy.

Happiness within the context of the World Happiness Report is a feeling of contentment and satisfaction inspired by material things. From the biblical point of view, joy is different from happiness because it is not expressed as a result of only favorable happenings. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”

This joy cannot be explained because it is inspired by the Holy Ghost and it is one of the attributes of those who have totally laid down their life to Christ. It is meant to be experienced by only those in God’s kingdom. Unspeakable joy is experienced as God fulfills His promises in the life of a believer.

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14:17

Many people from different background, social class and race are living a life void of the joy of God, which affects their emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. So how can we experience unspeakable joy?

Receive the Gift of Salvation

When David, one time king of Israel, sinned against God, he longed for the restoration of the joy of God’s salvation.

“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” Psalms 51:12

David understood the importance of living with God’s joy which he lost after committing murder and adultery. This gift of salvation from God has been rejected by many people because they are yet to receive Jesus Christ into their heart and they continue to disobey God, commit crimes and engage in vices.

“But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” John 1:12

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

There is no gift compared to the gift of salvation. This gift neither expires nor runs dry except one discontinues to abide in Christ. The gift of salvation brings unspeakable joy and this keeps the believer strong and focused.

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” Isaiah 12:2-3

“……for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10b

Are you a sinner living in wickedness, sadness, bitterness, envy, sensual and devilish tendencies among others? It is never too late to be admitted into God’s kingdom through Christ. Receive the gift of salvation by faith by confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:9-10)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Say this prayer of salvation:

Lord Jesus, from today, I accept You as my personal Lord and Savior. I believe that You came, died and rose again to save me. Forgive my sins and let Your Spirit dwell in me. I declare I am born again. Amen!

Carry God’s Presence

“You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever.” Psalms 16:11 GNT

God’s presence brings unspeakable joy. In Revelation 3:20, the Bible says Jesus Christ is standing at the door (heart) of every unbeliever, knocking daily and waiting to be let in.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

You will never lack joy when you let Jesus dwell in your heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit, a godly character is cultivated in your heart. The Holy Spirit is the person who works in every believer to do God’s will and live by His word resulting in fullness of joy. The Holy Spirit produces fruit in a believer, which has joy as one of the attributes. (Galatians 5:22 – 23)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Jesus Christ baptizes believers with the Holy Spirit. You are reading this message and you lack the presence of God, I urge you to desire and ask in faith for Jesus Christ to fill you with the Holy Ghost.

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” Matthew 3:11

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?” Luke 11:13

As you become filled with the Holy Spirit, I urge you to engage in kingdom service; leading lost souls to Christ. As you do so, God’s joy will not cease to overflow in your life. God bless you richly!
