The Healing Pool

One may wonder what happened at the pool of Bethesda after Jesus Christ healed a paralyzed man as the Bible tells us in John chapter five. What happened to the rest of the sick people? Did the legendary angel come down to stir up the water for the sick to be healed? Be it as it may, Jesus showed everyone at the pool that He has been and will continue to be the Great Physician.

If the legendary angel still visits to stir up the water for healing, I wonder the number of sick people that would have been visiting the pool of Bethesda, which according to biblical archeology, is now associated with the site of a pool in a Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem near the Lion’s Gate. Little wonder some Bible manuscripts omitted John 5:4.

The good news is that we do not need to visit the pool of Bethesda and wait for a legendary angel to be healed. The angel could only heal one sick person (the first person to step into the water) in a season after a long wait; however, the Bible tells us that Jesus heals everyone and does not refer any case.

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them.  (Matthew 15:30)

According to the legend, those who believed in the angelic move, were expectant and got ready to step into the water. In the same vein, with understanding, the Spirit of God stirs up and activates the word of God for our spiritual, emotional and physical health. So, we have to step into the word of God daily to receive our healing miracle. This we can do by locating the appropriate scripture for any case of concern in our lives and meditate on what God says. The word of God is powerful; it sanctifies and cleanses the body, soul and spirit. The light of God’s word cannot be withstood by any spirit of infirmity or terminal case. It shatters sickness, disease and anything representing darkness in us.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. (Ephesians 5:26)

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. (Psalms 107:20)

It only takes our faith to step into and live in line with what God has said concerning our health and vitality. The woman with the issue of blood by faith stepped into Jesus’ healing power as she touched Him(Matthew 9:20-22). As we study God’s word, let’s ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes of understanding as well as activate the word of God in us. By faith, as we step in and live the word of God, we shall continually operate in the miraculous.

Jesus told the paralyzed man at the pool of Bethesda that he should not sin again to avoid losing his miracle. So we need to steer clear of any ungodly lifestyle that would hinder of well-being.

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. (John 5:14)

Do you desire God’s healing miracle? If you are yet to join God’s family in order to receive your healing miracle, you can repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I suggest you say this prayer of salvation: Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. I believe that You came from Heaven to die for me and You rose again to save me. Forgive my sins and conform me to Your likeness. I declare that I am born again. Amen!
