In one of my books, “God’s Thoughts for You”, I highlighted that divine health is a gift from God and God cannot punish His children with sickness. I explained that disease and sickness are satanic oppression and that aside from satanic influence, you can also invite disease and sickness through your lifestyle. For instance, many people are sick because of what they eat and drink despite warnings from nutrition and health professionals.
God created many edible herbs and trees for us to enjoy (First Tim. 6:17). However, God advises us through apostle Paul that whatever we eat, we should eat to His glory (First Corinthians 10:31).
“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” (Genesis 1:29)
Many have chosen to eat unhealthy food daily. It is evident that unhealthy food opens the door for sickness and death (Second Kings 4:40b). Many are suffering from obesity because they failed to maintain discipline in the area of food. Unhealthy food has caused diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and many other illnesses in the lives of many. Scientists have revealed that heavily processed carbohydrates, drinks sweetened with sugar, saturated fats, red and processed meats are types of food that increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes. Eating too much salt is also linked to high blood pressure while high cholesterol mainly is caused by eating fatty food. The World Heart Federation declares that high blood cholesterol is one of the major controllable risk factors for heart disease, heart attack and stroke. High cholesterol causes 4.4 million deaths every year, or 7.8% of all deaths. This data is just a small fraction of people that die every year as a result of unhealthy diet.
Therefore, it is important to make the right choices in dieting. Eating healthy food is not as expensive has some people think. How healthy is the food you eat daily? Be mindful of what you eat or drink because what you take in can either destroy your body or improve your immune system. As you consume high amounts of energy, particularly fat and sugars, endeavor to burn off the energy through exercise and physical activity. Remember to also engage in periodic fasting and prayer as fasting cleanses and revitalizes your system (Isaiah 58:6,8). “Take time to savor the juiciness of an orange. The crunchiness of an apple. The beauty of a plate filled with vibrant, colorful vegetables. Thank the One who counted us worthy enough to provide these bountiful blessings!” (Maple Tree)
If you are yet to relate with God, the Provider of food, say this prayer of salvation: Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Come into my heart. I receive You as my Lord and Savior and I receive Your eternal life. I believe that You came, died for me and rose again to save me. Conform me to Your likeness. I declare that I am born again. Amen!
