It was not a normal Sunday for me. Unlike the usual Sunday morning preparations to attend church service back home in Nigeria, I was grossly engaged in preparations for a boat ride in Amsterdam with my course mates. The Sunday morning weather was friendly and the streets of Amsterdam were busy with tourists. I enjoyed the boat ride along the canals and Amstel River as I sighted the beautiful trees and awesome architectural designs of some of the buildings along the route. As we alighted the boat, we began to take a walk down a street. Then I noticed some good-looking women in what looked like a showcase, and some young men were trooping in and out of the ladies’ apartments.
As a ‘Jolly Just Come’, I asked the tour guide what was going on. I got to realize that the place is called the Red-light District where some women sit behind the windows in their underwear for passing pedestrians to patronize them. The country has legalized the market and people are free to engage in the demand and supply chains. Unlike the kind of brothels I have seen in Nigeria, the Red-light District has an advanced packaging. It was striking to observe that some sections of the district have shops were toys and tools some people use to have ‘fun’ are sold.
In my hotel room that night, I knelt down and asked God to cause the people doing business in the Red-light District and other parts of the world where a similar business is happening to begin to see His glorious light.
Proverbs Chapter Seven describes a similar business some people engage in to satisfy their fleshly lust or desire. Some people engage in it free of charge without financial gains. However, God frowns at it and the business has caused the downfall – loss of dignity, disease, sickness, emotional trauma, broken relationship, of many boys, girls, men and women.
“Flee fornication. Every other sin which a man doeth is outside the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you and which ye have from God, and that ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1st Corinthians 6:18-20)
God judges those who engage in all forms of sexual sins (See Hebrews 13:4) and the worst consequence is that they are eternally separated from God. Sexual sins are the shortcut to hell and spiritual death whether done in the covert or in the open. Hell is a place of torment in the sprit realm prepared for Satan and his loyalists (See Matthew 25:41). The Bible declares that hell and death will be cast into the lake of fire.
“Her house is the way to hell,
descending to the chambers of death.” (Proverbs 7:27)
God hates sexual sins but loves you, so, if you are in that category, you can repent and God is faithful and just to forgive and make you fellowship with Him and be Heaven bound. Say this prayer of salvation: Dear Jesus Christ, come into my heart. I believe that You came, died and rose again to save me. I confess that You are my personal Lord and Savior and I declare that I am born again and I will serve you all the days of my life. Amen!
