The God of Daniel

“I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel.” (Daniel 6:26)

Daniel (aka Chileab in Hebrew), a man filled with divine wisdom, an excellent spirit and gift of prophecy, was the second son of King David of old (1st Chronicle 3:1; 2nd Samuel 3:3). At about 17 years of age, Daniel was separated from his mother – Abigail, and taken to Babylon with other Jewish youths to serve King Nebuchadnezzar. While in Babylon, Daniel served five kings – Nebuchadnezzar, Evil-merodach, Belshazzar, Darius and Cyrus. His relationship with God made him outstanding among his peers. He accessed secrets from God and the kings were astonished at his ability to interpret dreams and explain mysteries; thereby acknowledging the awesomeness of God (Daniel 2:19 – 22; Daniel 5:17-29).

Daniel feared God and served Him continually in prayer and fasting with godly character and integrity. For this reason, God stood by him and delivered him when his enemies plotted evil against him. King Darius had no option than to punish Daniel’s enemies and to declare that his subjects should worship the God of Daniel (Daniel 6:22 – 26).

We can learn from Daniel’s story that the God he served is a living God – He communicates with His children and preserves them from evil. He is the God of the Bible and the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrew 13:8). God neither leaves nor forsakes His serving children. He grants those who serve Him wisdom and the spirit of excellence to succeed in all their endeavors – business, academics, profession and various careers.  His eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him (2nd Chronicle 16:9). Hallelujah!

It is good to know that the same way King Darius acknowledged the God of Daniel, your family members, friends, colleagues and enemies can be stunned by what your God can do for you. Remember that the God of Daniel is the Almighty living God who can be called your God if you yet to embrace Him. It is only when you know and relate with Him that you can be strong and do exploits.

If you are yet to have a relationship with God through His Son – Jesus Christ, say this prayer of salvation: Dear Jesus Christ, come into my heart. I believe that You came, died and rose again to save me. I confess that You are my personal Lord and Savior and I declare that I am born again.  Amen!
