Volume 2: Discovering Yourself

You are from God – His Likeness

God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness..” (Genesis 1:26a)

Likeness is the quality or state of being like (Merriam Webster English Online Dictionary). Another word for likeness is semblance or appearance. You will agree with me that a snake cannot give birth to a dog neither can a cow give birth to a goat. Therefore, like begets like. God is a Spirit Who created man – a spirit, in His likeness. We cannot see God’s mouth but He speaks every now and then (See Genesis 1). We cannot see His eyes but He can see what happens everywhere. God has emotions as well and that makes Him loving and does express His anger when offended. The Bible records that God walks in the earth: “O God, when You went forth before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah.” (Psalm 68:7). Furthermore, God upholds His children with His hand. God provided us with every body part to enhance our interaction with the spirit and the external environment.

God made you in His likeness to speak into being what you want to see in your life and to speak against every negativity or unwanted situation in your life. God made you to be visionary as you pursue your passion and goals in life. He has given you eyes to see cutting-edge opportunities that will usher you into the realms of supernatural abundance. God made you a to be a channel of His love and to walk in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Psalm of the Day

My Father, My Maker.

You made me in Your likeness.

Let me see like You see.

Let me speak the words You speak.

Let me walk like You walk.

Let me feel like You feel.

When I am deviating from Your likeness, help me to retrace my steps.
