God Overrules

When people and circumstances rule, God is always in the business of overruling. This conforms to God’s Word: “Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it.” (Lamentations 3:37) Positive and negative pronouncements often come from us or from people. Some declarations or pronouncements stem from the way we think. One’s mindset is shaped or influenced by environment and associations. In most Christian denominations, when making marriage vows of commitment, couples are made to add a phrase: “for better for worse.” My mindset changed when I was exposed to a teaching that kicked against any form of negative word. Why can’t couples say, “for better for better or best” because words are powerful? The fact that there are good and bad times in every aspect of life doesn’t mean that we should use our tongues to invite the bad times (See Proverbs 18:21). It happens that some spouses fail to fulfill such vows in adverse circumstances. In any case, it is what God says concerning us that stands.

Do you know that you can counter any negative pronouncements from anyone? Let’s learn from King Hezekiah of old. He was sick unto death and Isaiah, a prophet of God, told him to set his house in order as he was never expected to recover. When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, remembering his faithfulness and devotion to God. God responded to him: “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.” God reversed the prophecy and healed Hezekiah adding 15 years to his life. What if Hezekiah accepted the pronouncement from Isaiah? A story is told of a lady who received a negative prophecy that she would never get married. She believed that report and even in her forties she was not married until she believed God’s report concerning her marriage. Whose report will you believe?

Have you just received a doctor’s report that says your case is terminal and you won’t survive the next month or you will be on medication for the rest of your life? Remember, God’s report says, “Jesus took our illnesses and bore our diseases” (Matthew 8:17). Therefore, believe that you do not have any illness the doctor’s report states. Has someone placed a curse on you or your forefathers? Believe that God has blessed you and no man can reverse it (See Numbers 23:20). Moreover, so long as you are in Christ, Jesus has redeemed you from every curse (See Galatians 3:13).

It is your onus to cancel every negative prophecy or evil pronouncements that contradict God’s Word for your life. God’s prophecies and promises overrule any other form of pronouncement. Therefore, locate that specific Word of God that you can stand on for every issue of concern. Take appropriate actions to prevent any form of negativity in your life and family. Each time you receive a negative verdict, ask yourself: “What is God’s verdict concerning this case”?

God’s thought or plan for you is a peaceful and joyful life void of satanic oppression (See Jeremiah 29:11). For this reason, He sacrificed Jesus Christ for us to enjoy the redemptive rights of wealth, glory, power, wisdom, strength, honor and praise (See Revelation 5:12). For God to overrule every negative pronouncement concerning your life, you must have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Say this prayer of salvation: Dear Lord Jesus, from today, I accept and confess You as my Lord and personal Savior. I believe that You died and rose again to save me. Wash my sins away and shape my character. I declare that I am born again.  Amen!
